Modern Warfare 2 Sells 4.7 Million In One Day

Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has broken all previous records for day-one game sales. According to the sales figures released by Activision, the game sold 4.7 million units in North America and the United Kingdom alone in its first 24 hours. This exceeds Grand Theft Auto IV's record by 1.1 million units. Mike Griffith - "The Call of Duty franchise has become a cultural phenomenon showing the power of video games as an entertainment medium. The shattering of these entertainment records is a testament to the compelling, cinematic and uniquely engaging experience that the Call of Duty brand delivers. Modern Warfare 2 has taken interactive experience to unprecedented heights setting a new standard for entertainment." COD4 (Call of Duty 4) sold 7 million units in 2 months, so MW2 is doing really well. At this point it's unknown how many units each version of the game sold, but it's pretty clear that the Xbox 360 version is on top.

Campaign

The the modern warefair 2 campaign a group of ultranationalists seize control of Russia. while in Afghanistan, a U.S. Army Ranger Private First Class, Joseph Allen assists in taking a city from insurgents. Impressed by Allen's combat skills, General Shepherd recruits him into Task Force 141, an elite, multi-national counter-terrorist unit under Shepherd's command.

Allen is later sent on an undercover mission in Russia for the CIA under the name Alexei Borodin, joining Makarov in a massacre of civilians at the Zakhaev International Airport in Moscow. Makarov has been aware of Allen's identity and kills him during extraction, leaving his body behind to start a war between Russia and the United States

Meanwhile, Task Force 141 searches for evidence that proves Makarov as the mastermind behind the airport massacre, as proof of Makarov's involvement died with Allen. Intelligence leads them to a favela in Rio de Janeiro, where the team investigates Makarov's contact, weapons dealer Alejandro Rojas. They find out from Rojas that Makarov's worst enemy, known as Prisoner 627, is incarcerated in a Russian gulag east of Petropavlovsk. Task Force 141 assaults the prison and manages to free 627, who turns out to be Captain Price

The ending mission is kind of cliffhanger prepaing for MW3 Shepherd slams Soap into a rusted car, stabs him in the chest and prepares to kill him with his revolver. Just before he can, Price attacks Shepherd and the two start a hand to hand fight, with Shepherd slowly gaining the upper hand. Soap manages to pull the knife from his chest and throws it at Shepherd, piercing his left eye and killing him.this part of the campaing is very intence part and leaves you asking a lot of questions.

Multiplayer

In my opinion MW2 had the best multiplayer expereince in the Call of Duty series. the online multiplayeer features 16 maps in various sizes and landscapes. With the new DLC map packs there is now 34 maps, some of these maps are from Call of Duty 4.

Some new things in the multiplayer are: deathstreaks, callsigns, and custmisible killstreaks

These things have changed the Call of Duty multiplayer forever
