Truth About Fat Free Foods

To make something low fat, they take out the fat but replace it with something else for taste. Fat is used for taste and texture. But when the fat is taken out, more of other things need to be added like sugar sodium or gum.  Emulsifiers are fat replacements that allows ingredients to stick together.  “They are necessarily better than fat." Low fat foods are not always good because many of them have just been loaded with sugar. Some fat free products are not fat free either.  Anything less than 0.05 grams of fat is rounded down to zero.

People tend to eat more low fat food portions than they would with regular fat food portions. But being low fat doesn’t necessarily cut calories. For example, a regular oreo is 53 calories and a low fat oreo is 50 calories.
