When the game was released it was a big hit and everyone enjoyed it. The three disc game was released on the playstation in 1997 in the U.S. and from there it skyrockted to become the hottest game of the year. Squaresoft, the developer, turned RPGs upsidedown and changed the face of them forever. But with such great success they needed to expand more to make the fans happy. Eventually they made a movie, Advent Children, and a sequel like game, Drige of Cerebus.
